Parking is available at the Morris Yacht Club, and there is a gate at the entrance that we will have open for guests.

Schedule

This will be an open-house gathering from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Remarks will begin at 2:30 p.m., and all are welcome to share a story or memory if they wish.

Attire & Atmosphere

Dress is nice but casual. Mom loved color, laughter, and the ocean, so please come comfortable and bright.
Our setting by the water is a tribute to her joy in sailing, scuba diving, motorboating, and her lifelong love of lobster and blue crabs.

In Lieu of Flowers
We invite donations to causes close to her heart:

1. Equality Florida: Florida’s biggest gay rights organization, founded by Betty Owen’s nephew, Stratton, and also where Ben works. Betty Owen was from the panhandle of Florida and loved to represent her roots; she was proud of Ben and Stratton for working to protect gay rights in her home state. Equality Florida is dedicated to securing full equality for Florida's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) community by ending discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

2. Healthy Gulf: An organization dedicated to a healthy Gulf of Mexico (where Mom wants her ashes) returned to its former splendor that supports a thriving ecosystem that includes the Gulf’s natural resources and the people, communities, and cultures that depend on those resources.

3. Gaza Kinder Relief: Evacuations for critically injured children from the genocide in Palestine. Mom had a deep love for children and a strong desire to protect them. Raising her twins was one of her greatest joys, and she regularly supported UNICEF in that spirit. She raised us Jewish, and in her name, we honor her compassion by helping to fight against genocide and protect children everywhere.
